7 of the best female duos and friendships in Anime
In a medium as diverse as anime, there are plenty of wholesome, complicated, refreshing, or depressing female duos to talk about.
Hence this post, we’ll be talking about 7 of the best female duos and friendships in anime.
1 - Shinomiya Kaguya and Fujiwara Chika (Love is War)
These two best friends share a bond far steeper than one would expect considering their usual character dynamics in the series.
Even though, Kaguya often feels jealous of Chika, and tends to get annoyed for considerably understandable reasons, they have still been best friends since middle school.
Chika even proclaimed; She likes Kaguya so much that if they are stuck holding onto a rope in order to prevent falling from a cliff, and her weight is causing the rope to rip, she’ll let go of the rope so that Kaguya can escape instead.
Now isn’t that a classic best friend goal!
2 - Shima Rin and Kagamihara Nadeshiko (Yuru Camp)
One is the silent type who prefers her alone time to be spent alone. While the other is a wholesome and outgoing ball of energy.
One day, as Rin is travelling by herself, she notices a girl sleeping near the restroom. She continues on with her journey but later sees the same girl crying by herself, Rin lends out a hand, and this marks the beginning of a simple yet wholesome friendship between the two.
3 - Oumae Kumiko and Kousaka Reina (Hibike! Euphonium)
Here we have a rather complicated relationship, the two girls share a strange kind of chemistry, one that sparks opposite views at first but eventually turns into a relationship that helps them build upon their respective strengths.
Acknowledging each other, becoming fond of each other, and opening up to each other.
The transition of these steps is gradual but the emotional pay off is quite satisfactory.
For those who think we don’t get many good anime that focus on building realistic female friendships, you might want to check this one out.
4 - Rem and Ram (ReZero)
The Classic twin sisters, though on the surface the only thing that distinguishes them is their hair color, the codependence of the two sisters is a profound dilemma.
Be that as it may, Ram is quite fond of Rem, and she often encouraged her whenever Rem felt insecure or inferior to her sister back when they were both just children.
5 - Nana Komatsu and Nana Osaki (Nana)
Ah yes, the two Nana (s) from a classic shoujo anime named “Nana.”
Their first encounter happens on a train, at first Nana Komatsu considers Nana Osaki to be someone “cooler” and more personified than her.
However, they open up to each other in a few minutes and as fate continues to play its part, the two girls end up in the same apartment. From there on out, both of their individual and collective lives remain full of respective complications.
6 - Matoi Ryuuko and Kiryuuin Satsuki (Kill la Kill)
Introduced as rivals, the friction between Ryuuko and Satsuki that arose because of their first scuffle seemed a bit off, Ryuuko wanted some answers while Satsuki’s attitude toward her was rather easygoing.
But a dozen or so episodes later, as they realize they are both sisters and the actual enemy is their mom, the two of them combine their strengths to show us what eventually came to be known as once of the greatest anime climax episodes there are.
7 - Sailor Moon & Sailor Venus (Sailor Moon)
At first glance, even a non anime fan would perceive these two young ladies as twin sisters, but they are not. Their relationship is a far more interesting than the idea of twin sisters.
Be it the battlefield or not, regardless of the place or context, you’ll always find Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus covering each other in a dire situation.
I’d say, in contrast to all the other mentions in this list, this is the odd one out.
That’s all folks!
These were a few of the many dynamic female duos and friendships in anime.
