Saitama Is Unironically Stronger Than Goku

Wait.

Here me out for a few minutes.

Saitama is indeed unironically stronger than Goku and in this post we’re going to talk about exactly why I’m making that claim, but first, let’s talk a bit about these two characters and see why they are classified as “strong” in their respective Universes.

First we have Goku.

If you’re familiar with the “Can he beat Goku?” meme, you know that Goku is supposed to be the Strongest Shonen protagonist. He can easily bust planets, solar systems or even entire galaxies. He is absurdly strong, there is no doubt about it.

For example if Goku were to fight someone like Luffy. It doesn’t matter what silly moves Luffy uses with his Gear 5, he is getting rekt. The level of scaling between Dragon Ball and your usual Shonen World is just too much.

Then there is Saitama.

An Ordinary birth. An Ordinary life. No special potential whatsoever, just an ordinary person. Through effort alone, he pried open the door of his limits and broke his limiter.

The thing about Saitama is that he is really just a normal person. Just your average millennial. He got fed up with the corporate ladder, put himself through hell for three years worth of training, and somehow became this unreasonably  strong and powerful individual.

Ever since then Saitama has faced all kinds of threats.

He killed a massive titan with one punch, he saved entire cities from getting wiped out by destroying a meteorite, heck he even fought a Universal Warlord named Boros without breaking a sweat.

The moment he took things seriously, it was over for Boros.

And if you have been reading the One Punch Man manga, you know that the scale with which we used to measure Saitama has changed tremendously. Before, it used to be unreasonable for anyone to compare Saitama with Goku.

As strong as he was, Saitama’s feats were still only planetary level, but everything changed in his fight against Garou.

The World Building rapidly evolved.

Turns out, the One Punch Man verse is a Multiverse with alternate dimensions and even alternate universes.

The Number 1 Hero named Blast is actually not a FRAUD.

He was just busy with more important missions.

Anyways, during Saitama’s fight with Garou, Garou receives a tiny amount of “God’s” power. This allows him to instantly gain an understanding of all forces of the Universe. Heck, he was even able to imitate Saitama.

This is the key point we’re going to talk about in order to see why Saitama is stronger than Goku.

When Garou imitates Saitama, he essentially becomes as strong as Saitama, which is kind of exciting when you think about it. Saitama may be strong enough to defeat anyone and everyone, but can he defeat himself?

That’s the question.

Unsurprisingly, it escalates faster than expected.

Within a few exchanges, Saitama’s growth rate soars. It explodes out of proportion.

He begins to get exponentially stronger than Garou’s version of Saitama until once again, his power can't be compared with anyone anymore.

Imagine it like this.

Let’s say you’re the strongest person in a room.

You’re so strong that there is no one else even in the same tier as you. It’s impossible for anyone to win against you, but then one day, a person who is exactly as strong as you walks into the room.

But instead of finally having a worthy opponent, you wind up becoming twice, even thrice as strong as this person in a matter of seconds? That’s insane, right?

This is what we need to understand about Saitama’s character.

He is written differently than Goku.

While Goku is a saiyan who always surpasses his limits and explores new horizons. For good old Saitama, the concept of a limit doesn’t exist. He doesn’t have a limiter, which means that he can basically grow infinitely during the course of a fight.

Though you may argue that Goku can grow during a fight as well. But remember that the rate at which one grows isn’t always the same.

This is where I’m going to use Broly for example. In the Dragon Ball Super Broly film, he went from getting beaten by base Vegeta to eventually overpowering Super Saiyan God Vegeta before even turning into a “Super Saiyan” himself.

That’s just insane.

We know Goku can’t compete with the rate of Broly’s growth, so how’d he be able to compete with the rate of Saitama’s growth when his growth is theoretically limitless.

For Saitama, fighting Goku would only lead to him unlocking a deeper level of his full power.

Yes, exactly.

Ever since Saitama broke his limiter, he has never, not once, pushed himself to his limits. It has literally never happened.

This is why Saitama is unironically stronger than Goku.

Let’s reference the Broly example again, when Broly stepped on Earth, he wasn’t as strong as a regular Super Saiyan, but within the course of that fight, he was able to overpower both Goku and Vegeta, even against Gogeta, it wasn’t until Gogeta went Super Saiyan Blue that Broly was finally defeated.

The same thing is going to happen in Goku Vs. Saitama. Eventually, Saitama is going to catch up to Goku and then he is going to leave him the dust.

But as I said, it’ll happen much faster than it did with Broly, because while Broly still has a limit, alluding to the fact that he couldn’t outgrow Gogeta, Saitama doesn’t have a limit.

All in all, this is just a fun little post.

The two characters we’re talking about are written differently after all.

It’s Saitama who is written to be invincible, not Goku. So of course, he’d be invincible.

But why we love Goku is, that he would not give up and would even smile upon this challenge until he would be stronger as Saitama, but that would trigger Saitamas growth again… So we are in an endless cycle, in which I think, Goku would love to be in as there would always be someone to challenge him and push him forward.

We’re likely going to see much more impressive stuff from Saitama in the future because the series is still nowhere close to ending.

Similarly, Goku will continue to get stronger as well.

Just how much higher are we going to get? I can’t wait to see it.

That’s all folks, thanks and see you next time.
