Who Is The Best Great General In Kingdom Manga Right Now?
Kingdom is a brilliant and ambitious manga that retells the tale of how Ancient China was unified under one king. We have two protagonists, one is the up and coming King of Qin named Ei Sei or should I say “Qin Shi Huang,” and the other is our boy “Shin.”
Now, Shin’s ultimate goal in life is becoming a Great General of the Heavens.
Someone like General Ouki. Or no, scratch that, even better then him.
He’ll have to be the General who helps the King unify all of China for his feats to be considered even greater than that of Ouki, but this post isn’t about Shin, Sei, or Ouki.
It’s about this question: Just who is the Best Great General in Kingdom Manga Right Now?
To keep things simple, we’re only talking about the Great Generals of Qin.
Unfortunately, Kan Ki is dead, so he won’t be included in the discussion, but even if he was, he isn’t your “traditional” general material anyway. I do love Kan Ki though, he’s probably the Best written character in all of Kingdom.
So we have these Great Generals in the Qin Army right now: Mou Bu, Tou, Ou Sen, and Yo Tan Wa.
From among these four, who do you think is the best?
Is it Mou Bu? The Current Leader of Qin’s Great Generals.
Is it Tou? Ouki’s Successor and a man whose talents are on par with Ouki himself.
Is it Ou Sen? The Most Dangerous General in Qin.
Or is it Yo Tan Wa? The Mountain King and the Lord of Death.
Let’s consider all four of them for a minute.
Mou Bu is simply too reckless. Yes, he is the leader of the Great Generals but think about it. He doesn’t have the same talent for strategy as the rest of the Great Generals. He will boost the morale of his troops and he is indeed the Strongest Great General in the Qin army right now, but being the strongest and being the best General are not the same thing.
Then there is Ou Sen. He is arguably the most brilliant General right now. You know you have it when even Kanki respects you, but the thing about him is that he’s too dangerous.
If a General wants to be a King then that’s King material, not General material.
He also only fights the battles he knows he can win, so there’s that.
If Mou Bu is too prideful of his strength, Ou Sen is just too ambitious of a man.
But let me bring an interesting point.
Isn’t Yo Tan Wah the same as Ou Sen considering how she is basically a King? That is true which is why she isn’t the best among all of the Qin’s Great Generals either. Plus, her troops don’t even speak the same language as the people of Qin, so it’s hard for her army to fight alongside other groups unless there is already a connection. Like with General Heki for example.
Which leaves us with Great General Tou and as you can expect, he is certainly the Best Great General in the Kingdom Manga right now.
You see, with Tou you get both. You get the same kind of devotion as Mou Bu and you also get the same kind of seriousness as Ou Sen. It’s two in one.
He always maintains a formal demeanor and carries himself with both dignity and grace. Just recently, when Shin and Tou went to the state of Han to get Kanpishi. He couldn’t have been more mature and observant of the situation.
Seriously, the only time this man spoke was when he told Shin to just say whatever he feels is the true nature of man.
Tou was right because there really isn't any need to complicate it.
If it had been any other Great General, I just don’t see them saying these words to Shin at this particular moment. However, as vigilant as he is. When it’s time for War, Tou is about as serious as a well sharpened blade.
Unlike Mou Bu he doesn’t lose his cool though.
And unlike Ou Sen, he has a rare sense of loyalty and devotion.
This can be seen in the moment when General Ou Ki says his final words to Tou. He tells him to make sure no one follows him to his death. He also tells Tou that although he has been supporting him all these years, it’s not like Tou’s abilities were below that of his own.
Ou Ki leaves everything concerning his army to his Lieutenant, which speaks volumes about how highly he thinks of him.
Now, Tou is a man of few words. It’s just a manga but you can see the emotion in his cold eyes. When he pledges with his hands and accepts Ou Ki’s final order, he grips his hands so hard, blood starts dripping from them.
And let’s not forget the scene where he swooped in to protect Ou Ki from Houken. There was no yelling involved, but you can see the rage in his eyes.
It’s deadly.
This is what you need in a Great General.
He may not be Ou Ki but his abilities are indeed on par with him.
He may not be the strongest but he is the most reliable.
Let’s say, the King of Qin could only choose one Great General. It wouldn’t be Mou Bu, Ou Sen, or Yo Tan Wa.
It would be Tou.
That’s how it is. There is no single characteristic about him that truly stands out more than the other Great Generals, but his Versatility and occasional Goofiness is more than enough.
By the way, speaking a little bit about his stats.
He has 96 in Strength, 95 in Leadership, 94 in Intelligence, and S in experience.
Mou Bu outclasses him when it comes to Strength with a Score of 100, while Ou Sen outclasses him when it comes to Intelligence with the score of 99.
Yo Tan Wa has a 100 in Leadership so she outclasses him when it comes to that AND well, as for Kanki?
Kanki is just HIM guys.
He’s about the coolest, most electrifying character in the entire story.
But you know what?
Tou is completely balanced. All of his stats are phenomenal after all.
That’s why, I consider him the Best out of the Current Great Generals in the Manga.
By the way, let me remind you that while we’ve seen the best of the other Generals, we haven’t seen the best of Tou. As it stands, Tou’s stats aren’t as good as Ou Ki’s stats.
We need a few more arcs before he catches up to Ou Ki.
Just saying…
